Successful operations in the domestic and international market and strengths in
research are backed by a strong infrastructure network. The group has eight
state-of-the-art vertically integrated manufacturing facilities spread across 4
states. The formulation manufacturing plant at Moraiya about 15 kms from
Ahmedabad is the largest of its kind at a single location in Asia and has been
approved by the USFDA and other leading global regulatory bodies of the world.
The group also has USFDA approved API plants at Dabhasa near Vadodara and
Ankleshwar in Gujarat.
The formulations plant at Moraiya also has two dedicated units to manufacture
vaccines. The group manufactures Vaxirab, Purified Duck Embryo Vaccine (PDEV),
and a new generation vaccine for rabies, developed in technical collaboration
with Berna Biotech of Switzerland. The vaccine has been approved by the FDA and
DCGI of India. Clinical studies in the vaccine have established immunological
efficacy (100% sero-conversion). The plant has installed capacity of 2.4
million doses/annum. In addition to this, the group also manufactures
indigenously developed VacTyph / Purified Vi Capsular Polysaccharide Typhoid
Vaccine. VacTyph is safe and can be used for babies who are two years and
above. The master seed strain has been certified by the WHO surveillance
centre, SSI of Denmark and approved by NCA of India. The vaccine has been
approved by FDA and the DCGI of India. The plant has installed capacity of 6.0
million dose/annum. The production and Quality Control parameters of Vaxirab
(Purified Duck Embryo Vaccine (PDEV) and VacTyph conform to WHO guidelines.
Zydus Cadila has a team of over 500 research professionals spearheading its
research programme at the Zydus Research Centre. At the Zydus Research Centre,
the dedicated research arm of the group of more than 200 scientists are engaged
in the NCE research. The Zydus Research Centre is also working in the areas of
New Chemical Entities, New Drug Delivery Systems and Biotechnology.
The company's vision is to be a global research driven company by 2020. It
plans to achieve sales of $400 million by 2006 and be a top ten global generic
company with a strong R&D pipeline and sales in excess of $1 billion by
2010.
