The purpose of Developing Countries Vaccine
Manufactures Network (the “Association”) is exclusively charitable within the
meaning of Public Societies Registration Act, 1935. Within this general
guidelines DCVMN works to increase the availability and improve the quality of
vaccines produced in the developing world.
The specific purposes of the DCVMN include the following:
To provide a consistent and
sustainable supply of quality vaccines at an
affordable price to developing
countries.
To combat infectious diseases
especially those of the developing world, by
strengthening the capacity of vaccine and vaccine
related product manufactures, and potentially
other health technology producers, in developing
countries.
To encourage continuation of
Research and Development efforts to meet the
emerging vaccine needs in the developing
world.
To produce and deliver quality
vaccines and other health technologies effectively
on a long term basis for national immunization
programmes.
To improve the access of such
manufactures to technologies necessary to improve
the quality of vaccine and vaccine related product
and other health technologies currently being
produced and to prepare for the transfer and
production of newly developed health
technologies.
To develop innovative models of
ownership of health related intellectual property
that will better protect at risk
populations.
To provide technical assistance
to developing countries manufactures in all
aspects of production and distribution of
vaccines, vaccine related products and other
health related technologies.
To assist developing countries manufactures in
obtaining financing for production
To facilitate the exchange of
ideas and experience among developing countries
health technology developers and producers and
their counterparts in the developed
world.
To promote the participation of
developing country vaccine and other health
technology manufactures international strategic
planning and decision making related to vaccine
and health technology development and production
and disease control policy.
To educate the broader public health community and
the general public concerning these matters.
To encourage continuing Research
and Development efforts of full members to meet
the emerging vaccine needs in the developing
countries.
To foster the development of
Prospective Full members and Associate members of
the Association to attain the status of WHO
pre-qualification.
The purposes of the Association are
carried through the provision of technical assistance, training and research in
vaccine production, informational programmes aimed at educating the public
about the availability of safe and effective vaccines from developing world
manufactures, and related workshops.
